Festival of Libraries Commission piece
As part of my songwriting residency for MCRCityofLit I was asked to write a festival theme tune in collaboration with a youth group & One Stockport over a series of workshops lasting 3 weeks
As you'll see from the film, the young people took part in a lyric writing workshop in which we formed the lyrics for the song and then recorded various instruments to the track. The song is about the girl's thoughts and feelings on what libraries mean to them, and society in general, and how when reading a book you find yourself 'in the world' of the character.
It was so great to be running workshops in-person again. This is a side of my music making activities that I don't often talk about but the group were really fun to work with and we're all proud of what we've created.
